How do we organize our nodes?

Lets rearrange the previous table of nodes so they are in a logical order based on the activities that precede each of them. The table below also has a node to clearly define the start and finish of the project.

Node ID Node description Preceding
activity
0 Start project
1 Land cleared 0
2 Foundation laid 1
3 Walls built 2
6 Landscaping finished 2
8 Roof finished 3
4 Wiring finished 3
5 Walls plastered 4, 8
7 Interior work completed,
project finished
5, 8

Unfortunately the above is not correct, why not?

Lets look at what activities follow each of our nodes. For the internal work to be completed we need to have both the walls plastered and the roof finished, as one of the conditions of finishing the wall plastering is that we have finished the roof so it is redundant as a condition of the interior work being completed.

The above also has two activities that connect two nodes, the wiring and roofing are both activities between nodes 3 and 4. We need to insert a dummy activity here because we do not know which activity is first.

We end up with:

What next?
