Work Week options of the Display Dialog

Dates to exclude from the schedule

By checking the Weekends box, weekends will be marked as "non-work" days when the Gantt chart is generated. Weekends can now be defined as lasting more than two days and they do not need to be consecutive.

There are three ways of handling tasks if weekends are excluded from the 'work week'.

Let's take the following example below:

If we select the 'Adjust tasks' option the durations is taken to mean the actual worked days and the ending date of tasks are updated to allow for the weekends (e.g. for Task 1 the end has been changed from June 28th to July 2nd). Also note that the starting dates of any tasks related are updated (e.g. Milestone 1 which is dependent on the end of Task 1 now starts on July 3rd).

The duration of the task is kept the same even if it falls on a weekend but the end of the task is shifted by the number of days that fall on weekends. Any tasks depending on the end of this task are also adjusted.

The duration of the task is kept the same and so is the end date of the task. Any tasks depending on the end date of the task are also adjusted.

The end date of the task is not adjusted but the duration is adjusted to reflect the days that fall on the weekend.

Weekend Definition

The definition of the 'weekend' varies throughout the world. The user has the ability to select the days of the weeks that are to be considered the weekend. Weekend can now be two days or more (not necessarily consecutive).

This can now be set on a task by task basis using the 'Task Definition' option from the right mouse button menu.

Plotting the Gantt bar through the weekend

This option is used to draw the Gantt bar through the weekends while still adjusting the task start/end dates and duration (as set by the user) for the task not to actually be worked on over the weekend.
