However if the starting date falls on the weekend then the date in the task table is not changed (the Gantt bar is of course drawn correctly). There is a standard Excel function WEEKDAY that can be used to 'shift' the starting date to the next weekday, the big problem with this is that it uses Microsoft's definition of the working week, not the user's. ProjeX now includes a function called ADDWEEKEND that uses the weekend defined under 'Display Properties' to adjust the start date. BEFORE: The starting date for the second task is set to be the day after the first task finishes. In this case the task would start on the 10th of May which is a weekend so the task bar is adjusted so it runs from May 12th (the next workday) to the 15th (four days duration). Unfortunately the starting date for the task still shows May 10th. AFTER: By inserting the function ADDWEEKEND, the starting date is adjusted to show the next working day (in this case the 12th). This is not the same as Excel's WEEKDAY function because here the date is adjusted using what the user has defined in the 'Display Properties' dialog. There is also a function NEXTWEEKDAY which does not require the '+1' ie: This automatically starts the task on the next working day. |
